Blasphemy discussion at meeting

NORTH West Humanists are hosting a public meeting with guest speaker Bob Rees to speak about blasphemy.

The country goes to the polls on October 26 th next to vote on a referendum to remove blasphemy as an offence from the Constituti­on. Mr Rees is a long time humanist, author of Secular Humanism, Skepticism and Reason and a regular contributo­r to the Irish Freethinke­r and Humanist magazine.

Secular Humanism offers an easy introducti­on for newcomers to humanism.

It explains what humanism is, how it works, and where it came from. It describes what it is to be a sceptical humanist, and it discusses some of the moral dilemmas facing Humanists in the 21st century. The meeting gets underway at 8pm tonight (October 9 th) in the Radisson Hotel Sligo.
