Corran Ac congratulated Sara on th wonderful achievement and wish her the very best next month.
Sligo AC athletes were also in action at the International Cross Country and put in fine performances.
Massive congratulations to Seamus Somers and Mari Johnston. Seamus had a great race and was 2nd M45.
Likewise Mari was 2nd F50 and both now claim the distinction of representing Ireland.
Great running also by Kevin McGloin who was 6th M50 so will have to play the waiting game concerning selection.
Well done also to Rory Connor who ran well and finished 15th in the M50 group.
In the U20 race Finley Daly and Michael Morgan had fine runs. Finlay was 16th while Michael followed him home in 19th.
There was further good news for North Sligo AC too who had competitors in action. North Sligo athlete Eamon McAndrew. McAndrew who competed in an Ironman Triathlon in Barcelona only 2 weeks ago and finished a superb 2nd in his over 40 category despite having a nasty crash off his bike he recovered well for this race.
The 43-year-old year old North Sligo AC member ran a great race in Abbottstown to finish 4th in the over 40 category to secure his place on the team.
The team consists of 6 members with the first 4 across line secure and the other 2 members at the discretion of the Irish Masters Association.
McAndrew becomes the first master runner from the club to win an Irish vest, this will hopefully inspire more runners from the club to follow in his footsteps.
The standard of masters run- ning in Co Sligo is very high at present.
