Fundraiser in Aclare Saturday
NOVEMBER 1st every year is the traditional start to the Pheasant Shooting Season in Ireland.
Annually since 1984, shooting men and women of the Gun Clubs of Tubbercurry & Cloonacool have run a competition & Social to judge the best Cock Pheasant Shot at the opening of the season.
This gathering is used as a fundraiser for local charities that have helped families in South Sligo in recent times.
A presentation of €1, 300 for the Neonatal Unit – Friends of Sligo Hospital was given to Nurse Carmel Durkin.
This money was raised at the 2017 Cock Pheasant event, and over the last 35 years nearly €100,000 has been given to local charities. This year’s event takes place on Saturday November 3rd at 9pm in Flynn’s Pub, Aclare Village, and the benefitting charity this year will be Pieta House. This event is open to all people and is an evening of fun and chat with some novelty fund raising events including the auction of birds shot in the few opening days of the season. A very worthwhile cause, come out to Aclare and enjoy yourself.
