Remembering soldiers of World Wars

THE annual remembrance service in memory of the men and women from Sligo town and country who served and died in the 1st and 2nd world wars will be held on Saturday 10 th November at 11am at the Cenotaph Pearse Road ,Sligo.

The family members of those who lost their lives are encouraged to attend this service particularly as it is the 100 th anniversary of the ending of the 1st world war in which some 600 people from Sligo town and county were killed.

On Sunday next, November 11 th a much bigger commemorative event will be taking place in Sligo.

It is hoped at eleven minutes past eleven a procession of 608 participants will walk from the city centre to The Great War monument.
