2 THIS IS HOW WE FLY

This Is How We Fly brings together four musicians – Caoimhín Ó Raghallaig­h (fiddle and Hardanger fiddle), Seán Mac Erlaine (clarinets and live electronic­s), Nic Gareiss (percussive dance) & Petter Berndalen (drums and percussion) – each of them rooted in different cultures and musical vocabulari­es, each on the cusp of their most fertile and creative years. 3 DEEP SEA SHADOW

Come and discover the wonders of light and shadow as you make your very own shadow puppet, inspired by the mysterious creatures - whales, octopuses, and even mermaids - who live in our deep blue oceans. Afterwards, the children’s shadow puppets will be displayed (and they might even have a little dance) during the Under the Sea Session! Event takes place at the Hawk’s Well this Thursday.

Derek Ryan’s songwriter session comes to the Coleman Music Centre on Wednesday, October 31st. Derek Ryan has become Irish country music’s golden boy with chart topping albums, self-written smash hit singles, box office busting live tours and of course – an army of faithful fans around the world.

5 SAMHAIN AND HALLOWEEN FAMILY FUN

A family fun Halloween special takes place at Sligo Woodland School for all ages. All are welcome to a spooky special afternoon to celebrate Samhain (the end of the Celtic year) with Halloween fun and games from 4-6pm today (Tuesday).

6 UILLEANN PIPING DAY

Join the Hawk’s Well in the foyer for this free event as part of Sligo’s first Internatio­nal Uilleann Piping Day this Saturday; a unique global celebratio­n of the Uilleann pipes. This lunchtime gathering will bring together Uilleann pipers from county Sligo and surroundin­g areas, giving musicians and students alike the opportunit­y to meet each other ahead of Na Píobairí Uilleann’s annual Tionól, which will take place in May 2019 in Sligo town.
