Southampton coaches visit Benbulben FC

-

AS part of the links that have been developed between Benbulben FC and Southampton FC following the transfer of Séamas Keogh (pictured) to Southampton, on October 20th, Benbulben FC had the pleasure of hosting three of Southampton’s leading academy coaches who visited North Sligo to take training sessions with some of the club’s young players.

Andy Marks, Sam Hawkins and Ben Lucas travelled over to visit Benbulben and gave tailored coaching sessions to Benbulben FC players from age groups under-9 up to U-18.

These sessions consisted of a mixture of conditioned games, team coaching sessions and - for the older teams - observation of 11 V 11 games between both the U15s and U16s and the U17s and U18s.

All sessions were very well run by Andy, Sam and Ben, very well attended by players in all age groups, and very much enjoyed by all the players and coaches from Benbulben FC who attended on the day. Speaking about the visit, Ray Gillen said: “There’s no doubt that, as a club, we will have learned a lot of very useful information and coaching tips to take forward into future training sessions and games.

Benbulben FC would like to say a big Thank You to Andy, Sam and Ben for making the effort to travel over for the weekend, and for the work they did on the day with our players and coaches.

We do hope that there may be opportunities in the future to build on this, and to further develop and strengthen the links between Benbulben FC and Southampton FC.

“Benbulben FC would like to thank everyone that came out on the day.”
