Charged over counterfei­t ¤50 note

A man charged with tendering a counterfei­t ¤50 note to a city centre hotel has chosen to go before a judge and jury at the Circuit Criminal Court.

Geoffrey McManus (34) of Langan Drive, Cranmore, appeared before the District Court.

He is charged with using a counterfei­t ¤50 note in the Glasshouse Hotel on 11 th May 2017.

Judge Kilrane asked McManus if he would prefer to deal with the matter in the District Court or the Circuit Court and the defendant opted for the latter.

“Circuit Court Judge,” he replied.

He was remanded on continuing bail to 31st January 2019 for DPP’s directions.
