Medals for North Sligo AC in cross-country league
EAMON McAndrew led his North Sligo AC team to 2nd position in the last leg of the Connaught crosscountry league in a wind swept cross-country course in Belleek Ballina.
The North Sligo runner put in another top shelf performance full of grit and determination to finish 2nd in a good quality field over an undulating and testing course over 8k at this Ballina venue.
Tommy Kelly continues to improve with another fine performance after his long layoff due to injury to finish 11th, Eamon Murphy ran his heart out to produce a great performance and finish 14th and David McCullagh was the 4th scorer in what was probably his best crosscountry performance to date to finish 25th.
The above four scorers moved their team from 4th position after the 2nd leg, to 2nd place in this 3rd and final leg.
Alan Wallace put in another good strong performance to finish 32nd, with Jimmy Currid and Leo Donlon putting in big performances to finish 34th and 37th respectively.
Aisling Van Rensburg was once again the first North Sligo runner to finish in the womens race with another sterling performance from this determined and talented athlete to cross the finish line in 11th position, Marita McMorrow put in a huge effort to finish 14th, Alison O’Sullivan really upped her game with a great performance to finish 22nd and the 4th scorer Mary Gilmartin showed great battling qualities which earlier this year saw her win a bronze medal in the over 50 age group in the national half marathon, to finish 23rd in this race and bring her team to 3rd position overall in the league,newcomer to crosscountry Cathrine Lipsett done herself proud by finishing 30th in this 4k testing race
