SLIGO SINGS

IN an ongoing mission to get the whole of Sligo singing, the Hawk’s Well theatre is once again hosting one of its most popular programmes Sligo Sings on Saturday, November 24 th at 8pm.

Returning for its fourth year, this fun event brings together pop-up choirs of all ages and abilities, for a night of song, camaraderie, and much more besides.

Featuring brand new choirs alongside existing Sligo Sings groups, choirmasters have been working hard with their choral superstars, in preparation for this major celebration.

2018’s event will see a number of choirs taking part. Among the participants this year are; Sligo County Council’s ‘Heart’s Desire’, Sligo Youth Voices, Sligo University Hospital, Mercy Primary and Mercy Secondary school teachers, the Hawk’s Well Community and Irish Language Choirs, and Sligo Volunteer Choir.

Sligo Sings might just be the only place where you’ ll find tracks by Take That rubbing shoulders with those by Metallica and Glen Hansard.

An established highlight in Sligo’s cultural calendar, Sligo Sings is a feel good fundraiser in aid of Hawk’s Well theatre renovation fund. Come along, support the theatre, gee-up friends on stage, and enjoy an uplifting and entertaining evening.

BEEZNEEZ THEATRE

A Beezneez Theatre Company visit to The Hawks Well Theatre is always welcome but when they come with a revival of what many consider to be John McDwyer’s finest play, it is a visit not to be missed. Callaghan’s Place is the second part of McDwyer’s Leitrim Trilogy and following the hugely successful revival of Lovely Leitrim in 2016, it was inevitable that calls would go out for a revival tour of Callaghan’s Place.

The production was a massive success when premiered in 2003 and was toured three times by the company including sold out appearances in London and in Newcastle for the Irish Arts Festival there. It has since become a staple of amateur theatre and has been performed all over Ireland. It was a major hit at Boyle Arts Festival earlier in the year.

Callaghan’s Place comes to Hawk’s Well Theatre for one night only on Wednesday November 21st at 8pm.

CLOONACOOL MUSIC CLUB
