TABLE QUIZ THANKS

Killavil Developmen­t group thank all those who supported their recent table quiz also those who sponsored prizes for the night. The amount raised was €720.

This will go toward the local contributi­on for works that will take place under the town and Village Scheme for which Killavil/ Bunninadde­n received funding.

Some of the works proposed in Killavil which will depend on tenders received include upgrading of the church car park, provision of a monument to the late great flute player Peter Horan and upgrading the existing one which is there to the memory of the late Fred Finn.

GAA NEWS

The whole community, GAA club, Community Games group woke up to the horrific news on Tuesday morning that Jack O’Hora had passed away in a car accident in Ballina. Jack was well known in the parish as an athlete running in the all-Ireland Community Games finals for a number of years, playing rugby for Ballina and of course GAA with Castleconn­or. On Sunday he had played for the clubs under-21 team in the county semi-final when home on leave. Jack captained our minors to a county title three years ago from midfield while also playing on our intermedia­te team that reached the county championsh­ip final. To Caroline, Kieran, Hannah, Danny, Scarlett, extended family and friends, we send our heartfelt condolence­s.

Hurling County Champions Congratula­tions to Corballa NS retained their county hurling title in Scarden when overcoming both Strandhill and Geevagh. This was an excellent day’s work for the squad and school. Oisín Mullarkey accepted the shield on behalf of the school.

The Kube takes place on Saturday, November 24, in the Diamond Coast Hotel. Tickets will be €20 and for under-16s tickets are available for €10. A great night’s entertainm­ent is assured. Your ticket also gives you entry to the raffle on the night with loads of prizes to be won.

A Christmas Flower demonstrat­ion by Sr Fionnuala Keveny will be held on Wednesday, December 5, at 8 p.m. in Coláiste Iascaigh. Funds raised are in aid of Fr Martin Keveny Brazil Fund and Colaiste Iascaigh School developmen­t. Raffle, spot prizes and refreshmen­ts.

WELDING CLASSES

Beginners and Intermedia­te Welding Classes begin in Coláiste Iascaigh on tonight Tuesday, November 20, at 7 p.m. Duration 10 weeks at a cost of €150.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

A Christmas Parish Bazaar will be held in Skreen-Dromard Community Centre on December 2 at 1 p.m. with something for all the family, Santa, crafts, carol singing, dance, raffle, cake sale and much more.

HOLY HOUR

A Holy Hour to pray and remember our beloved deceased will be held in Rathlee Church on Thursday, November 22, at 7.30 p.m. Candles will be blessed and can be taken away with you as a remembranc­e of your loved ones.

POST OFFICE CLOSED

Dromard post office closed on October 31 ending over 100 years’ service in the local area. The postmistre­ss Eva Kelly and her husband Sam are wished many happy years of retirement.

SOCIAL DANCE

The November Social Dance in Skreen-Dromard community centre will be held on Saturday, November 24. Dancing to Stuart Moyles from 10 p.m.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

The Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser held by the St Farnan’s GAA Club was a great success. Well done to Jennifer Foy and Cormac Hallinan, who were overall winners and Aoife Connolly and James Weir, who were best fundraiser­s.
