Hawk’s Well Theatre in tune for Sligo Sings 2018
IN an ongoing mission to get the whole of Sligo singing, Hawk’s Well Theatre is once again hosting one of its most popular programmes; Sligo Sings on Saturday 24 th November.
Returning for its fourth year, this fun event brings together pop-up choirs of all ages and abilities, for a night of song, camaraderie, and much more besides.
Featuring brand new choirs alongside existing Sligo Sings groups, choirmasters have been working hard with their choral superstars, in preparation for this major celebration.
Debuting in 2014, the inclusive event welcomes all, and sees Hawk’s Well Theatre create amateur choirs from all across the county, who perform an eclectic mix songs and arrangements. The key element however is fun, and following weeks of rehearsal, the Sligo Sings concert showcases the work put in by the participants.
2018’s event will see a number of choirs taking part. Among the participants this year are; Sligo County Council’s ‘Heart’s Desire’, Sligo Youth Voices, Sligo University Hospital, Mercy Primary and Mercy Secondary school teachers, the Hawk’s Well Community and Irish Language Choirs, and Sligo Volunteer Choir.
The unexpected is to be ex- pected with the song choices, and Sligo Sings might just be the only place where you’ ll find tracks by Take That rubbing shoulders with those by Metallica and Glen Hansard.
An established highlight in Sligo’s cultural calendar, Sligo Sings is a feel good fundraiser in aid of Hawk’s Well Theatre renovation fund. Come along, support the theatre, gee-up friends on stage, and enjoy an uplifting and entertaining evening.
