Man admits possessing 440 images of child pornography

A man has pleaded guilty before Sligo Circuit Court of charges of possessing child pornography.

Stephen Finan of 16 Collery Drive, Cranmore entered his guilty plea before Judge Francis Comerford at a sitting of the court last Tuesday morning.

Finan admitted having 440 images and one movie on a pc and two images on a laptop at his home on September 20 th 2014.

Ms Eileen O’Leary SC with Mr Joe Barnes BL and Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor (defending) requested that a probation report be prepared on the defendant in advance of a sentencing hearing.

Ms O’Leary also requested that the legal aid certificate cover the cost of obtaining a report from the defendant’s GP.

Judge Comerford adjourned sentencing to February 12 th next at the Circuit Court in Sligo.

The defendant was remanded on continuing bail.
