A 27-year-old mother was stopped by gardaí driving with 3 of her children, including a seven month old baby not properly restrained in her car, Sligo District Court heard.

Garda Laura McDaid of Ballymote Garda Station told Judge Kevin Kilrane that on February 5 th 2018 at Keash she stopped a Volkswagen Passat being driven by Lisa Ward, who has an address in Bunninadden, Co Sligo.

She noticed there were three children in the rear, one boy who was 4-years-old was behind the driver’s seat with no booster seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Another 7-month-old baby boy was in a rear facing car-seat that was in a forward facing position and another girl was in a booster seat and the seatbelt was under the child’s arm.

The garda said that part of the booster seat was missing and there were no side protectors on it.

Ward, who was not in court was fined €50 on each charge of driving a vehicle with a child not restrained.

The judge asked gardaí to inform Ward that she may be disqualified from driving now pending on the accumulation of penalty points she has.
