CURATOR

General Paints Group has launched their highly anticipated new designer paint brand, Curator. A unique paint collection created in collaboration with some of Irelands’ finest designers with vibrant and whimsical colour, Curator comprises 144 paint colours, inspired by 29 Irish designers, two of which hail from Sligo, available in five stunning finishes, coming together to form one beautiful collection.

Inspired by Ireland’s expressive design community, Curator was created by General Paints Group as they recognised the creativity and talent in Ireland. They set out to celebrate the vibrancy and colour of Irish Design and bring this to life in homes through the form of a designer paint brand that was yet to exist in the Irish market. Having travelled across Ireland, sourcing and collaborating with Irish artisans - from potters and milliners to jewellers - colours were identified from their designs to produce a carefully curated original colour palette off 144 colours with each telling a tale of Irish culture and inspiration. Two Sligo based designers; John Ryan and Matt Jones are amongst the 29 talented designers.

Based in his studio in the rural heartland of Sligo, master craftsman, John Ryan, makes contemporary, functional and decorative stoneware ceramics. John draws inspiration from the simplicity and beauty of the surrounding landscape of the west of Ireland. “The stone-grey colour of the beautiful Horseshoe Mountain was the inspiration of my Curator colour, Horseshoe. This grey tone is often infused in my hand-thrown work.”

Matt Jones designs beautiful handmade wooden items out of his workshop in Sligo, which is surrounded by hills, woods and the wild Atlantic sea. This dramatic landscape plays a major part in Matt’s work. “Paring Down is a natural wood tone which is inspired by my craft. Paring down wood reveals its natural beauty and character.”
