Clifford’s and fans rally for Sean Cox
SLIGO is rallying behind Liverpool fan Sean Cox in his efforts to recover from the serious injuries he received when attacked before a European match at Anfield.
The 53 year old father of three from Dunboyne was left in a critical condition following an incident before Liverpool’s Champions League semi final against AS Roma on 24 April.
He has now returned to Ireland but is receiving ongoing treatment at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire and faces a long road to recovery which is also very expensive.
Sean worked in the electrical industry for over 25 years and was employed by Precision Cables in Dundalk, a leading cable supplier to the electrical industry in Ireland.
Sean was a regular visitor to Sligo and one of the town’s leading electricial retailers, Clifford’s is lending its support to a nationwide coffee morning across all electrical wholesalers in the country on Friday next, 7 th of December.
“Sean was a regular visitor to Sligo and would communicate with our staff on a regular basis,” said director of Clifford’s, John Clifford.
The coffee morning at Clifford Electrical will take place at the its premises at Carraroe between 10am-12pm.
“A trust has been set up with the sole purpose of funding much needed rehabilitation for Sean following his discharge from the National Rehabilitation Centre. The family need our help.
“In a completely unprovoked attack Sean was set upon by several Roma fans. He was just walking along the street minding his own business and looking forward to watching the game.
“I know we all get fund raising and donation requests on a regular basis and particularly at this time of year. This is different.”
