Woman was lying asleep on roundabout

-

A woman was found lying asleep on a roundabout at Finisklin by Gardaí after they got a call from a member of the public.

Bridget Flood (37) and her partner James Barry (48) of Maryville Hostel were both accused of threatening behaviour and intoxication on the Finisklin Road on 14 th October. Sergeant Derek Butler said Gardaí found Flood lying on the roundabout with her legs on the road. When they woke her up, she became “abusive” and both were arrested.

Barry was also charged with urinating in the patrol car, a charge of criminal damage which was dropped last week. A charge of intoxication was also dropped against Flood. Ms Laura Spellman, defence solicitor for both, said both had lost jobs in construction and cleaning and were now homeless. She apologised to the court on their behalf.

Judge Kilrane convicted them of abusive behaviour and fined them ¤200 each.
