-

A woman who was allegedly assaulted by another woman in Cranmore has described the alleged incident as “bad timing.”

Sheryll Farrell (22) of Devin’s Drive, Cranmore, was due to be tried on a charge of assaulting Ms Imelda Maguire, causing her harm, at 11 John Fallon Drive, Cranmore on 25 th January 2018.

However Sergeant Derek Butler told the court that it had come to his attention that morning that the injured party wished to withdraw her statement.

Ms Maguire took the witness stand to confirm this to Judge Kevin Kilrane, who asked her why she was doing this.

“The reason is me and Sheryll were the best of friends and she was going through rough stuff,” said Ms Maguire.

“I just want to drop it now because we’re friends,” she said.

Judge Kilrane asked if she was injured in the incident.

“I did get assaulted yes. It was just bad timing on the day,” she told him.

Judge Kilrane struck out the charge against Farrell.
