Martina’s work at ‘Gifted’ Fair
A new jewellery collection inspired by the extraordinary natural beauty of County Sligo will be in the spotlight at Gifted – The Contemporary Craft and Design Fair at the RDS, Dublin from December 5-9.
With over 500 designers, makers and artisan food producers displaying original gifts, the traditional opening to the festive season in Dublin is set to attract over 45,000 people in five days.
Award-winning Sligo jewellery designer Martina Hamilton is renowned for creating superb pieces inspired by the light and beauty of her home county.
“My designs are inspired by the wonderful, ever-changing Atlantic coastal landscape where I live, and more recently by the discovery of my ancestral ties with Dernish Island, just off the Sligo coast,” said Martina.
“Together, our small family team of master goldsmiths have created a variety of jewellery collections.”
This year’s Christmas showcase is her Leaf Collection, which features freshwater cultured pearls, available in both sterling silver and gold which includes two different pairs of earrings, pearl pendants and the extremely popular leaf and pearl bracelet.
Based at Castle Street, Martina has been designing distinctive jewellery collections for 30 years.
Working exclusively with hallmarked silver and gold, all her pieces are handmade by studio craft makers. Born in Sligo and a former student of fine art and sculpture at IT Sligo, in 2011, she opened the Hamilton Gallery, at Castle Street which hosts a continuous programme of solo and group exhibitions by Ireland’s leading contemporary visual artists.
Martina is an elected member of the board of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.
