Eastern Garavogue Bridge can now start late 2019
THE news that Sligo County Council was getting ¤4.3 million towards the construction of the Eastern Garavogue Bridge was welcomed by Director of Services for Roads Tom Kilfeather.
“It has a long and chequered history but it’s shovel ready. We are now going to move forward and finish design and go through the tender process to be on site late 2019,” he told members.
“This morning’s announcement has cut the time by about two and a half years,” he said. He also said the Council now owned a 17 acre land bank that will be serviced by the bridge and is zoned mixed use. “There’s potential for development for any service type of industry, anything non-retail,” he added.
