THE Gaels suffered an agonising defeat to St Marys in the U21 A Championship final last Saturday by the narrowest of margins. The team was: Daniel Lyons, Ben Tuohy, Evan Lyons, Alan Kelly, Enda O’Connell, Patrick Benson, Sean Carroll, James Carroll (0-3), Dillon McDermott, Daire Kearns (1-1), Shane Deignan (0-1), Mark Kearns (0-2), Seamus Hailstones (0-1), Dylan Willis (0-1), Darragh Hailstones (0-5), Subs: Karl McKenna for S Hailstones, Luke Flynn for D McDermott, Ultan McKenna, Steven Willis, Brendan Hailstones, Michael Barry, Niall Whelan, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Thanks to the players and management of Donal Tuohy, Brian Boyd and Liam O’Connell for their efforts this year. This is the last game in what has been a long year for many players contesting finals at Minor, Intermediate and U21 and with all but one of the panel underage next year, hopefully we will be contesting for honours at this level in 2019.

Ladies - Our sincere thanks to Joanne McAndrew, Jackie Donlon, Mary Scott, Leah Kelly and Cassandra McCloat all of whom represented our club at the Sligo Ladies Co. Bd. “Strictly come Dancing” fundraiser which was held in the Clayton Hotel on Friday last. The five performed together as a group and put on a great performance, as indeed did all of the participants, which contributed to a great nights entertainment. And with the proceeds from the event being divided equally between the participating clubs and the Co. Bd. it means that the club coffers stand to benefit in the process. Well done to all involved in organising the event. They left no stone unturned in putting on a great production and it is a pity that their considerable efforts weren’t better rewarded with a bigger turnout.

Our club also featured in the interval entertainment with underage player Joanne Rowlette featuring among the acts.

Our club AGM is taking place on Thursday the 6th December in the Still Bar at 8pm. More volunteers are needed to help in the day to day running of the club so please email our secretary Joanne if you wish to nominate anyone for any position.
