St Mary’s host­ing match in mem­ory of Mark Rooney on St Stephen’s Day in club

KENT Park is the lo­ca­tion on St Stephen’s Day for the an­nual match in mem­ory of the late Mark Rooney who sadly died 2 years ago.

The char­ity match sees the hosts St Mary’s tak­ing on Glen­car/Manorhamil­ton who or­gan­ised the match last year. Mark played with both clubs dur­ing his es­teemed sport­ing ca­reer.

There are a num­ber of games sched­uled to take place, with the matches begin­ning at 12pm with the clubs’ U8 and U10s i n ac­tion.

Then from 12:30pm the ladies will face each other while the men’s teams will play at 1pm ap­prox­i­mately.

Re­fresh­ments will be avail­able through­out the day in the club­house and a big crowd is ex­pected to sup­port the char­ity matches.

Mark, from Glen­car, was a keen sports­man all his life and in­volved in GAA and soc­cer.

Mark also played golf with Co Sligo and his team­mates ded­i­cated their AIG Se­nior Cup win to him.

He also played with Strand Celtic, Manor Rangers, Sligo Rovers, St Mary’s and Glen­car/Manorhamil­ton.

There is a large crowd ex­pected for the char­ity match.

The first game gets un­der­way at 12pm with the club’s un­der­age teams in ac­tion be­fore the se­nior teams are in ac­tion.

St Mary’s are host­ing this year’s char­ity match in mem­ory of the late Mark Rooney, a keen sports­man.
