Surf rescuers are honoured
STRANDHILL Surf Rescue was honoured at the recent Irish Water Safety National awards ceremony which took place in Dublin Castle.
The first dedicated community rescue service of its kind in Ireland was presented with the Irish Water Safety Community and Social Responsibility Award.
Roy Kilfeather of the Strandhill Surf Rescue was at the ceremony. The award was presented by Sean Canney TD, Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The award is in recognition of the support given to Irish Water Safety’s community work and commitment to drowning prevention initiatives and the reduction of aquatic related injuries.
Strandhill Surf Rescue was the first dedicated community rescue service established in Ireland under the auspices of the Irish Surfing Association and Irish Water Safety.
Strandhill Surf Rescue has been a huge benefit to the community since being established.
