Castlerea Mart Market Report

NUMBERS of stock presented for sale are starting to fall this week, with lesser numbers on offer in all categories of stock. Trade has remained strong for the quality lots presented with the exception of the Dry Cows who have noticed a slip in prices in recent weeks. The Heifer trade and Weanling rings reported good clearances with good prices reported for the quality lots, while Breeding stock and Runners reported good demand.

Sample Prices:

HEIFERS: Ch 420kg €1040, SimX 390kg €970, Lim 425kg €1250, Lim 490kg €1300, Ch 460kg €1150, Sim 705kg €1435, Lim 540kg €1315, Lim 460kg €1440.

COWS: DRY COWS: ChX 790kg €1720, Ch 640kg €1205, BBX 760kg €1245, Lim 710kg €950, Lim 670kg €925,.

Cows with Calves at foot made from €1140 to €1500 per head. Springer Cows made from €980 to €1300 per head. CALVES/RUNNERS: Smaller numbers presented this week with prices ranging from €250 to €715 per head.

WEANLING BULLS: ChX 290kg €815, Ch 230kg €675, Lim 290kg €720, Ch 465kg €1095, Ch 405kg €1000, Ch 325kg €900.

WEANLING HEIFERS: ChX 285kg €960, LimX 270kg €780, Lim 250kg €755, LimX 335kg €890 AA 300kg €800.

Bullock Sale Monday 26 th November: 200 Bullocks on offer this week with better quality cattle presented. Demand was similar to previous weeks with a good clearance taking place.

Sales continue at Castlerea Mart on Monday next the 3rd of December with a Bullock sale, and next Thursday we have our usual sale of Heifers, Cows, Calves, Runners and Weanlings. All sales commence at 11am
