Council condemns Saudi Arabia

-

COUNCILLOR Gino O’Boyle got the backing of all members to call on the Government to condemn Saudi Arabia for the blockades resulting in a man-made famine in Yemen which is leaving 11 million children starving.

“What sort of nation have we become when we sit back and do nothing? I find it appalling that we are doing nothing,” said Cllr O’Boyle. “It’s the biggest man-made crisis in decades,” he added.

He was supported by Cllr Hubert Keaney and Cllr Declan Bree who quoted a UN warning that Yemen could be facing the worst famine in 100 years if airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition are not halted. Cllr Chris MacManus the Council should go one step further and condemn the Saudi Ambassador to Ireland.
