Council units at Carrowbuna­un

The 20 new Council houses proposed for Carrowbuna­un are being held up because of costly road access and ser vicing issues.

Cllr Declan Bree, who had asked for an update on Phase 1 of the proposed Council housing scheme, was told by Director of Ser vices for Housing Bartley Gavin that the land at Carrowbuna­un was “not ready for developmen­t.”

He said both access and ser vicing will the agreement of others and investment in roads and water ser vices.

“It may take a developmen­t contributi­on scheme to finance ser vices,” he told the meeting.

Other Council developmen­t l ands available are at Finisklin, Carney and possibly Grange. The council is currently concentrat­ing resources “where we can get deliver y easiest and earliest and where the need is high,” the meeting heard.
