Council units at Carrowbunaun
The 20 new Council houses proposed for Carrowbunaun are being held up because of costly road access and ser vicing issues.
Cllr Declan Bree, who had asked for an update on Phase 1 of the proposed Council housing scheme, was told by Director of Ser vices for Housing Bartley Gavin that the land at Carrowbunaun was “not ready for development.”
He said both access and ser vicing will the agreement of others and investment in roads and water ser vices.
“It may take a development contribution scheme to finance ser vices,” he told the meeting.
Other Council development l ands available are at Finisklin, Carney and possibly Grange. The council is currently concentrating resources “where we can get deliver y easiest and earliest and where the need is high,” the meeting heard.
