-

A 25-year-old man was given the Probation Act and ordered to pay €200 to charity for possession of cocaine and also possession of drugs for the purpose of sale and supply.

Mark McGoldrick with an address at Ballydrehid, Ballysadare was charged with the offences on Castle St on March 16 th 2017.

Mr Gerard McGovern solicitor (defending) told the court there was a very positive Probation Report which indicated that his client had a very, very low risk of reoffending.

He said that McGoldrick has since qualified in his job and at the time of the offence he was finishing his exams. He said McGoldrick was a hardworking man.

The value of the drugs was €181 the court heard. Judge Kevin Kilrane ordered him to pay €200 to the Sligo branch of St Vincent de Paul and applied the Probation Act.
