The Sligo Champion

BACK TO THE 80S NIGHT

-

Time to go Back to the 80s! The rugby club discos have become an institution in Sligo, considered a rite of passage by some, before they hit the big night clubs in town. Now it is time to revisit those stomping ground and relive the memories of awful fashion, classic music, big shoulder pads and even bigger hair under the glittering mirror balls. The newly revamped rugby club will host a Back to the 80s Christmas Party on Saturday December 15th after their final game of the season. The event is being organised by a team of volunteers from the club, led by two well-known ladies around Sligo. Monica Mc Elhinney and Miriam Cunningham have been actively involved with the club for years and their sons, Liam and Brendan, have played rugby from U7s all the way up through the age grades, making their senior debuts this season. Sligo RFC has ongoing projects involving the development of the pitches, the floodlights, the grounds, the clubhouse and the players’ changing rooms. All money raised will go to the development of the club. Tickets are priced at €15 and are available from Keane’s Centra Strandhill, Cosgrove’s Centra Maugheraboy and The Record Room. There will also be a limited number available on the night. Doors open 9.30pm.
