Fresh traffic fears in Maugheraboy
The Council has been pressed to provide better traffic management at the junction of Maugheraboy Post Office.
Councillor Chris MacManus made the call, and also urged the Council to provide a footpath from Beechlawn Court down to the same junction.
There are two Council tenants with physical disabilities who will have to brave the extra traffic crossing the road without the continuous footpath, he told the meeting.
“The 62 new houses will cause increased traffic in the long term. There is no traffic management at Maugheraboy Post Office. The community have difficulties entering Maugheraboy at the junction,” he said.
He was seconded by Mayor of Sligo Municipal District Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady: “I think it would be timely to have it assessed at this stage.”
Director of Services Bartley Gavin said the Roads Department will look at the footpath but an existing farm shed projects onto the line of the footpath. The Maugheraboy junction will be assessed as part of the new development of 62 houses.
