Sugar Tax

The Council is calling on the Department of Finance to reinvest the revenue from the Sugar Tax in children’s health and health promotion activities.

Cllr Seamus Kilgannon moved the motion which was supported by all members. He said obesit y was now ten times the rate of 1975 l evels.

He was supported by Cllr Hubert Keaney who said physical activit y should be “part and parcel of our education system.”
