‘Experiment­ing’ students found with drugs

CHARITIES benefited from several donations in the District Court last week.

Ben Galgey (24) of Rossinver Road, Kiltyclogh­er, Leitrim was given the benefit of the Probation Act after pleading guilty to a first time drugs offence.

He was found with the illegal drugs at 9 Glenard Estate, Ballinode on 25 th Oc- tober 2016. He donated ¤200 to the local branch of St Vincent de Paul after Judge Kevin Kilrane gave him the Probation Act.

Meanwhile Conor Marshall and Daniel Treanor also received the Probation Act for first time cannabis offences.

Marshall (22) of Cartron Estate, Sligo was found with a small bag of cannabis worth ¤50 at Hazelwood Road, Ballinode on 10 th April this year.

Treanor (21) of Sruth an Mhuileann, Emyvale, Co Monaghan, was found with ¤50 at Glencarrig, Ballinode on 10 th April 2018.

His solicitor, Mr Mark Mullaney said he was a student “experiment­ing” at the time.
