‘Ex­per­i­ment­ing’ stu­dents found with drugs

CHAR­I­TIES ben­e­fited from sev­eral do­na­tions in the District Court last week.

Ben Gal­gey (24) of Ross­in­ver Road, Kilty­clogher, Leitrim was given the ben­e­fit of the Pro­ba­tion Act af­ter plead­ing guilty to a first time drugs of­fence.

He was found with the il­le­gal drugs at 9 Gle­nard Es­tate, Ballinode on 25 th Oc- to­ber 2016. He do­nated ¤200 to the lo­cal branch of St Vin­cent de Paul af­ter Judge Kevin Kil­rane gave him the Pro­ba­tion Act.

Mean­while Conor Mar­shall and Daniel Tre­anor also re­ceived the Pro­ba­tion Act for first time cannabis of­fences.

Mar­shall (22) of Cartron Es­tate, Sligo was found with a small bag of cannabis worth ¤50 at Hazel­wood Road, Ballinode on 10 th April this year.

Tre­anor (21) of Sruth an Mhuileann, Emy­vale, Co Mon­aghan, was found with ¤50 at Glen­car­rig, Ballinode on 10 th April 2018.

His so­lic­i­tor, Mr Mark Mul­laney said he was a stu­dent “ex­per­i­ment­ing” at the time.
