Remanded on two sex assault charges

A Midlands man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a female in West Sligo seven years ago.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Judge Kevin Kilrane at Sligo District Court last Thursday.

He stands accused of two counts of sexual assault at a location in West Sligo on dates between 1st June and 31st August 2011, contrary to Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) Amendment Act 1990.

Det. Insp. Ray Mulderrig gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of the accused who replied ‘No’ to both charges. He was granted bail on condition he have no contact with the alleged victim, to Sligo District Court on 31st January 2019.
