The an­nual Lough Ar­row Christmas Day swim in aid of North West Hospice takes place at 1 p.m. at Flynn’s pier via Ballindoon. Please sup­port par­tic­i­pants as gen­er­ously as ever, or if you would like to par­tic­i­pate con­tact Mary (086 8733485) for spon­sor­ship card or go through our Face­book page. In con­junc­tion with the Swim there will be a ta­ble quiz in Des’s bar on Jan­uary 5 at 9 p.m. Please sup­port; you won’t have to win to win a prize.


A Charity Shave night was held re­cently in Des McDon­agh’s Pub the ‘Bow and Ar­row’, Heap­stown. Well done to the 12 bearded gents who shaved their re­cently grown beards to raise money for two very wor­thy char­i­ties. Alzheimer’s Cen­tre in Aughamore re­ceived €4,450 and €3,000 was raised for Sligo Cancer Cen­tre. It was a fan­tas­tic night and a huge thank you to all who got in­volved and thank you to ev­ery­one who sup­ported the event.


The staff and par­ents of Tau­nagh NS would like to thank ev­ery­one who sup­ported their Christmas Sale on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 8. There were cakes, dec­o­ra­tions and cards on sale on the day and the school was de­lighted to wel­come the Ra­zor Sharps, who sang a se­lec­tion of songs. It was a won­der­ful com­mu­nity event and the money raised will go to­wards new play­ground mark­ings.
