BOYLE BOYS SUPPORT VINCENT DE PAUL.

The boys at St Joseph’s BNS are once again this year supporting the local branch of St Vincent de Paul. They are collecting non-perishable food for Christmas Hampers. The boys realise that many people are not as fortunate as us and Christmas is about the spirit of giving and helping those in need. If you would like to donate food, please drop it in at the school during school hours or give it to one of the boys who will leave it in for you (before Thursday, December 20).

COFFEE MORNING

Make sure to pop in and sample some homemade treats at Trojan, Elphin Street, Boyle on Friday the 21st from 10.30 a.m. till 3 p.m. In aid of Mayo and Roscommon Hospice.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DRAW

A final countdown to win €1,500 in cash for as little as €2 a line. Boyle Christmas Lights Cash Draw will be held on Friday next December 21, raffle cards are available in all businesses in Boyle and we appeal to all to sell the lines and take part in the Cash Draw of €1,500 in prizes. Lines are €2 each or three for €5. This year alone over €4,000 has been spent on upgrading the lights infrastruc­ture and acquiring our new tree on the Crescent. The Christmas Cash Draw is the only fundraisin­g done to ensure Boyle lights up for the festive season. If businesses are in need of additional Raffle Cards please call 087 6352118 or call into Boyle Enterprise Centre, Quarry Lane, Boyle. The lights team will be calling to all businesses next week and we appeal to all to have your cards and subscripti­on ready to hand over for the Big Draw.

CHRISTMAS PARK RUN

Walk or run the picturesqu­e 5k route days before Christmas and wear your Christmas glad rags. Come and join the fun on Saturday, December 22, at 9.15 a.m.

ST STEPHEN’S DAY TREASURE HUNT

The annual charity treasure hunt will take place in Lough Key Forest and Activity Park at 2.30 p.m. Clues will be distribute­d by David, Aisling and team at the entrance to the Visitor Centre. Answers can be handed in at Clarkes’s Bar, St Patrick Street where the results will be announced. In aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice. A lovely traditiona­l event since 1985 (perhaps even before that).

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers will take place on Friday, December 28, meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at midday with your leader being Zeta Griffin 086 3361336. BLACK DRESS LADIES LUNCH

The fifth Women’s Little Black Dress Ladies Lunch will take place on January 6 from 1 a.m. till 5 p.m. in Kilronan Castle, Ballyfarno­n.

A MUST FOR YOUR DIARY

Boyle GAA to host ‘I’m a Celebrity’ Excitement is building ahead of next year’s Boyle GAA organised ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ fundraiser. The event will take place on Saturday, March 16, in St Joseph’s Hall. 24 contestant­s will battle it out to see who is the ‘King or Queen of the Jungle’. The main sponsor of the night is LandEscape Pty Ltd, the Australian company run by Boyle man Pádraig Sweeney. Based on the popular TV show, this event is unlike anything you have seen before. Contestant­s are fully dressed in their campsite costumes and compete alongside live snakes, reptiles and spiders surrounded by a jungle background.

VOICE OF HOPE II

Tommy Fleming will bring his ‘Voice of Hope II’ tour to Boyle next summer, with a very special concert on Sunday, July 21, 2019. Tickets for his performanc­e in St Joseph’s Church, Boyle are on sale now from Taylor’s Jewellers, Bridge Street and Úna Bhán, beside King House.

The Market takes place every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda.
