ON IR­ISH BOX­ING TEAM

Well done to Cahán Hal­li­nan son of Padraic and Maura, Dro­more West, who was part of the Ir­ish box­ing team that trav­elled to Por­tu­gal on De­cem­ber 13. Cahán com­peted in the un­der-18 com­pe­ti­tion at 69kg weight level. He is a mem­ber of the Bal­lina box­ing club and a stu­dent at Coláiste Ias­caigh. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Cahán on win­ning a gold medal in the fi­nal of the ODIVELAS Box Cup 2018.

JAMES NOM­I­NATED

Tem­ple­boy/Aughris Ru­ral Ac­tion group re­cently nom­i­nated James Weir for Sligo County Coun­cil’s Cathaoir­leach Awards 2018. James was se­lected as a win­ner in the Sports cat­e­gory in recog­ni­tion of his out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to hurl­ing in Sligo and win­ning the Lory Meagher Player of the Year and All Star Award. James and his fam­ily at­tended the awards cer­e­mony in City Hall on Thurs­day De­cem­ber13, where he was pre­sented with his award. Well done and con­grat­u­la­tions to James and the Weir fam­ily.

ALL-IRE­LAND SEMI-FI­NAL

The All-Ire­land JFC Club semi-fi­nal fix­ture with Easkey and Red Hugh’s will take place on Sun­day, Jan­uary 20, at 2 p.m. at Pairc Seán Ui Hes­lin, Bal­li­namore, Co. Leitrim.

5K/10K FUN RUN/WALK

West Sligo 5K/10K Fun Run/ Walk will be held in Dro­more West on St Stephen’s’s day. Reg­is­tra­tion starts at 9.30. En­ter on­line on Ru­nire­land.ie. Fee is €15 for walk­ers, starts at 11 a.m. and €20 for run­ners starts at 11.30. Re­fresh­ments af­ter­wards in the com­mu­nity cen­tre.

TIRERAGH CCÉ

Our an­nual Christmas Con­cert takes place in Dro­more West Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 28, at 7.30 p.m. A great night of entertainment is guar­an­teed with music, song and dance.

SKREEN DANCE

The De­cem­ber so­cial dance in Skreen-Dro­mard Com­mu­nity Cen­tre will be held on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 29, from 10 p.m. Music will be pro­vided by the Duets.

TA­BLE QUIZ

St Pat’s GAA Club will hold a ta­ble quiz on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 29, in Rafter’s Bar at 9 p.m. The club ask for your sup­port on the night. It’s a night to meet neigh­bours and friends home from Christmas. €20 per ta­ble.
