ON IRISH BOXING TEAM

Well done to Cahán Hallinan son of Padraic and Maura, Dromore West, who was part of the Irish boxing team that travelled to Portugal on December 13. Cahán competed in the under-18 competitio­n at 69kg weight level. He is a member of the Ballina boxing club and a student at Coláiste Iascaigh. Congratula­tions to Cahán on winning a gold medal in the final of the ODIVELAS Box Cup 2018.

JAMES NOMINATED

Templeboy/Aughris Rural Action group recently nominated James Weir for Sligo County Council’s Cathaoirle­ach Awards 2018. James was selected as a winner in the Sports category in recognitio­n of his outstandin­g contributi­on to hurling in Sligo and winning the Lory Meagher Player of the Year and All Star Award. James and his family attended the awards ceremony in City Hall on Thursday December13, where he was presented with his award. Well done and congratula­tions to James and the Weir family.

ALL-IRELAND SEMI-FINAL

The All-Ireland JFC Club semi-final fixture with Easkey and Red Hugh’s will take place on Sunday, January 20, at 2 p.m. at Pairc Seán Ui Heslin, Ballinamor­e, Co. Leitrim.

5K/10K FUN RUN/WALK

West Sligo 5K/10K Fun Run/ Walk will be held in Dromore West on St Stephen’s’s day. Registrati­on starts at 9.30. Enter online on Runireland.ie. Fee is €15 for walkers, starts at 11 a.m. and €20 for runners starts at 11.30. Refreshmen­ts afterwards in the community centre.

TIRERAGH CCÉ

Our annual Christmas Concert takes place in Dromore West Community Centre on Friday, December 28, at 7.30 p.m. A great night of entertainm­ent is guaranteed with music, song and dance.

SKREEN DANCE

The December social dance in Skreen-Dromard Community Centre will be held on Saturday, December 29, from 10 p.m. Music will be provided by the Duets.

TABLE QUIZ

St Pat’s GAA Club will hold a table quiz on Saturday, December 29, in Rafter’s Bar at 9 p.m. The club ask for your support on the night. It’s a night to meet neighbours and friends home from Christmas. €20 per table.

CAR TREASURE HUNT

A Car Treasure Hunt will be held on St Stephen’s Day at1 p.m. in aid if Skreen School House repair fund. The hunt will start at Skreen School House and there will be refreshmen­ts afterwards. Enquiries to 087 7965195.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Jack Whyte late of Easkey and Ross, Skreen. His burial took place in St Mary’s Cemetry, Skreen.

Sympathy also to the relatives of Peggy McDermott née Dunphy late of Easkey and Maunsells Road, Galway, whose burial took place in Roslea Cemetry.
