Drivers are warned to lookout for late night wide loads on lorries
WIDE loads on its way to a wind farm in county Mayo will be passing through Sligo late at night for the next few months.
It is planned to transport components for a wind farm from Killybegs to Oweninny, Bellacorick, Ballina by road from Sunday, January 6 th to May 31st.
The loads will be travelling from each Sunday night (leaving from Killybegs to Friday mornings when they will arrive in Mayo.
The loads are 4.5 metres wide and up to 66 metres or 216 feet in length approximately. Traffic delays are expected while the loads are travelling along the roads which will also be under Garda escort and which will be travelling very slowly.
The route through Sligo is N15 - Cliffoney to Sligo, N4 Sligo to Ballysadare and N59- Ballisodare to Ballina. Each load will leave Killybegs at 10pm and are expected in Cliffoney at midnight and be in Ballysadare at 1am and then travel onto Ballina via N59.
Loads are expected to be in Bellacorick on site by 5am-5.30am approximately.
