House prices rose by €7k in past year

PROPERTY prices in Sligo have risen by €7,000 in the last year, according to the latest MyHome.ie Property Report in associatio­n with Davy.

The report for Q4 2018 shows that the median asking price for a property in the county now stands at €147,000. While this fell back €2,000 or 1.3% from the previous quarter, it is a 5% increase on this time last year when they stood at €140,000.

The rise in prices was reflected in the asking price for a 3-bed semi-detached house in the county, which jumped by 3.7 % in the last quarter from €135,000 to €140,000. This contribute­d to an annual increase of 8.1% from €129,500 this time last year. Prices for this house type remain at their highest level in exactly six years since they stood at €149,000 in Q4 2012. The asking price for a 4-bed semi-detached house in Sligo rose by 1.3% in the last quarter from €160,000 to €162,000 but this was down 3% from €167,000 at the end of 2017. The number of properties for sale in Sligo on MyHome.ie fell 7.6% in the last quarter but was up 13.9% on this time last year.
