Sligo Park Hotel invests in ‘greener future’

-

The Sligo Park Hotel has recently installed an electric vehicle charger that can be used by hotel guests.

The charging outlet, which took almost two weeks to install, is located in the car park, just outside the leisure club.

Gerard Moore, General Manager of the Sligo Park Hotel, said: “We want to offer something different to customers and try to reduce our environmental footprint at the same time. We see this as an investment for the future and an opportunity to lead the way.”

The outlet works with all electric cars and takes from five to eight hours to fully charge, so guests can charge their electric vehicles overnight.

The Sligo based hotel, which has recently invested more than €3m in a comprehensive redesign and refurbishment, is also installing solar panels on the roof of its leisure club to reduce its carbon footprint.

Gerard Moore said: “It’s a modest initial investment of €15,000 to create 50 square metres of solar panels to help us become more environmentally conscious and ultimately reach our goal of becoming an environmentally friendly hotel.”

The panels on the leisure club roof will be completed in January.
