The first game of 2109 is to night January 8 at 9 p.m. Looking forward to seeing all our supporters for a nice friendly game with plenty of chat and banter. New inexperien­ced players are always welcome. All proceeds go to local projects in the community so please support and bring a friend.

JPC PUBLIC MEETING

The Sligo County Joint Policing Committee wishes to inform members of the public that a public meeting will be held next Thursday, January 10, in Sligo Park Hotel at 7.30 p.m. Members of Carraroe Community are encouraged to attend the meeting and support the developmen­t of consultati­on with our Garda Síochána in the interest of safety of our community. Please encourage all your contacts around County Sligo to attend.

DANCING CLASSES

Frank says thanks to all supporters and friends for the great nights in Carraroe during 2018 and wishes all a very Happy 2019. Looking forward to continuing the great atmosphere of learning a fun this year.

All learners and experience­d dancers catered for at these sessions so come and enjoy. Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo. Dance class commences at 8.30 p.m. with live band from 9.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m.

NO POSTERS IN CARRAROE

Cadra is now working to ensure posters are not erected in our area during the local election due this year. We will be writing to each Local Election Candidate as they are declared to request their support and respect for our community wish. Please spread the word and ensure all supporters are aware.

NEW YEAR GREETINGS

Cadra wish that 2019 will be kind to all our residents, supporters and friends. We thank everyone who assisted with our objective of taking care of our community during 2018. Let your new year resolution be to keep a look out for our neighbours especially those living alone.

SEAN NÓS DANCING

Classes resuming again on Friday, January 11, for six weeks with all-Ireland Champion Ryan Sheridan. Beginner Class 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. Intermedia­te Class 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. Suitable for all children with a keen interest in learning traditiona­l sean nós dancing.. ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

Cuilbeg was alive with activity St Stephen’s morning with St John’s players both past and present out in full force earlier today when the emigrants played the homeboys in what now is becoming an annual event. Some lovely football played by both sides.

The St John’s G4M and O’team were they curtain raiser when they took on a team made up of senior players’ wives and girlfriend­s the G4M and O’had four mums playing who played with and against their daughters, Sarah and Michelle McNamara, Celene and Chloe and Shannon Clerkin, Victoria and Holly McAndrew and Noelle and Megan McCarney. Well done ladies and I’m sure it is special memory that will be spoke about for a long time.

A large crowd of supporters were out to encourage all teams and as usual the social committee served beautiful refreshmen­ts including Charlie Kelly’s fine burgers to all involved.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

The community centre will be open fully after the Christmas break and many groups will be restarting their classes and group gatherings. If you would like to book the centre, please contact the parish office. Some space is available on Friday evening.

CHURCH NEWS

Parking at Church: Please use the designated car parks at our church which includes around the community centre. Plenty of parking is available in safe locations. Please avoid parking on the main roads. It obstructs passing traffic.

Parish Envelopes 2019: Envelopes are now distribute­d to all areas in our parish. If you did not receive envelopes or wish to make changes, please contact the parish office. Please use your parish Envelope during the year. We produce over 1,200 envelops to cover the Carraroe Parish and on average about 300 are returned per week. Now is the time to make a commitment. Each box contains the yearly supply of envelopes which includes special collection­s.

Carraroe Parish Choir: Parish Choir rehearsal on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along. More male singers are required.

The sick and Housebound: Mass is on 107FM Just tune your radio before Mass. Please let the housebound know about this service in your area.

HI-VIZ

Cadra continues to distribute free Hi-Viz. We appeal to people walking or working around our community to wear Hi-Viz to ensure visibility in these dark evenings. We have a supply of free Hi-Viz available from any member of committee.
