TERRIFIC TRACTOR RUN

Manorhamilton’s annual tractor run on New Year’s Day was a terrific event that enjoyed widespread community support.

When it was over its delighted organisers, Manorhamilton IFA stated they ‘would like to sincerely thank all who took part and supported our annual tractor run today, January 1’.

Manor IFA also expressed ‘a big thank you to the management and staff of Manorhamilton Livestock Sales for the use of their premises and their very generous hospitality.

‘We thank the stewards and collectors for all their efforts and the Gardaí who were very helpful in the running of the event. To the 126 people who drove their tractors and the many more that came to support we thank you and we hope that you enjoyed the day.

‘Thanks are extended to Pádraig Thornton for taking the photos. Finally and most importantly we wish (road traffic accident victim) Michael Gilgunn (for whom the tractor run was organised) and the Gilgunn family a Happy New Year and many more years to come.

‘Happy New Year to all and we hope to see you all back this day next year’ the Manorhamilton IFA spokesperson said in a final comment on the successful 2019 New Year’s Day tractor run.

GLENCAR/MANOR 2018.

Glencar/Manor Joint Senior Team Managers Shane Ward and Kieran Fox provided the club’s recent AGM with an interesting report how their team, which they both praised, performed in 2018.

Shane and Kieran’s report stated ‘our league form was consistent throughout the year winning 11 out of a possible 12 games and winning the league title in a well-contested final Vs Ballinamore Seán O’Heslin’s.

‘The championship kicked into gear in the last week of July with a group of six teams. We were consistent again winning all five games, topping the group to qualify for the quarterfinals.

‘During this time the team prepared well for challenges ahead. We met a well-organised Ballinamore Seán O’Heslin’s team in the first knock out game with the game ending in a draw after a pulsating finish.

‘After a good week to reset our focus, we got possibly the performance of the season to win the replay. A week later was the semi-final Vs Mohill, which proved to be a very disappointing; exit from the championship.’.
