FOOTPATH AT CUILBEG – THANK YOU

Cadra is delighted that our hard work is now coming to fruition with the work by Mullane’s having commenced. This will eventually allow us have a footpath to the Community Sports Complex at Cuilbeg and will allow our children walk safely to the facility. It will also allow more people from Carraroe walk safely and access the walk that is being developed around the sports fields. Cadra on behalf of the community of Carraroe wish to express our thanks and appreciati­on to the Rose and Oliver Harte for their assistance and cooperatio­n with the project. We also appreciate the work of Michael Carty Engineer Sligo Co County Council for all his assistance. We acknowledg­e the grant under the Towns and Villages Scheme which allows this work and appreciate all our public representa­tive for the support given with the project. Sean nós Dancing.

ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN

Cadra has registered Carraroe for the annual spring clean on Saturday, April 13, 19. Please keep data free and come and give our area a good clean for the summer. More details later.

NO ELECTION POSTERS PLEASE

Cadra has written to all declared Local Election and European Candidates to request their support and respect for our community wish not to have posters erected in our area during the elections in May. We have supplied our DEDs and Map of the area concerned. Please spread the word and ensure all supporters are aware. We have already received some acknowledg­ments and positive indication­s of compliance with our request from candidates and will be keeping you informed into the future.

25 CARD GAME

The regular game is each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. in Community Centre Winners were Séamus McGoldrick/Dermot Mitchel. Runners-up were Aidan Healy/Thomas Collery, Michael Healy/Margaret Healy. New and inexperien­ced players are always welcome. The game is run by Cadra in partnershi­p with St John’s GAA Club and all proceeds go to local projects in the community so please support and bring a friend.

SLIMMING WORLD

Charlotte will provide sessions in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday morning at 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and each Saturday morning at 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. All current, new, re-joining and visiting members very welcome. For more informatio­n contact Charlotte at 087 7987118.

ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

TIDY TOWNS

We are planning to finish the area on the banks at the community centre, cut the edges on all our grass areas to present in neat condition. We would like to hear form anyone willing to assist with any projects or indeed any ideas contact any committee member or email cadrasligo­1@ gmail.com.

LAKEVIEW GUILD ICA.

The guild meet on the first Tuesday of the month in Carraroe Community Centre at 8 p.m. New members always welcome-for further informatio­n contact Mary at 086 3755894.

The spring federation meeting will be held in the Sligo Park Hotel on Tuesday, February 20, at 7.30. Margaret from Strandhill Guild will give an update on Dollys Cottage. The table quiz will be held at this meeting three members on each team, the winning team will represent Sligo Federation at the national finals.

The Gempack cake competitio­n will also be judged on the night, we would ask the members taking part in the Gempack to contact our contest secretary Kathleen before Friday, February 8.

The Sligo weekend at An Grianan plans are now finalised, balance of money now due, contact Kay.

LEARN TO DANCE

Frank is looking forward to continuing the great atmosphere of learning and fun this year in Carraroe Community Centre. All learners and experience­d dancers catered for at these sessions so come and enjoy.

Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo. Dance class commences at 8.30 p.m. with live band from 9.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. The Bands schedules are: Tomorrow night February 13 Jason Moyles, February 20 Noel Brody, February 27 Stuart Moyles. Parking: Please use the designated car parks which includes around the community centre. Plenty of parking is available in safe locations. Please avoid parking on the main roads. It obstructs passing traffic and view of people leaving the community centre and church.

Carraroe Parish Choir: Parish Choir rehearsal on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along. More male singers are required.

HI-VIZ

Cadra continues to distribute free Hi-Viz. We appeal to people walking or working around our community to wear Hi-Viz to ensure visibility in these dark evenings. We have a supply of free Hi-Viz available from any member of committee.

HALL HIRE

Our Centre is available for room and hall hire at very competitiv­e rates, and we offer excellent facilities for sports, meetings, parties and social events, including our sports hall, changing rooms with showers etc. Our hall is very popular for sports events, and also for children’s parties as it can accommodat­e a bouncy castle. Do pop in to have a look, or call the centre on 914 6512.
