The annual table quiz hosted by Castledargan Ladies Golf Club will be held on Friday, February 22, at 8.30 p.m. in Castledargan Hotel. This year the table quiz fundraiser is in association with ‘Friends of Aengus, Bring Him Home’ to help Aengus Lyons return and live at home. €40 per table of four. Everyone welcome. CONNOLLY PARK HOSTS SLIGO V DOWN – The club were delighted to have the honour of hosting Sligo’s opening National League game against Down last Sunday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be Sligo’s day as Down scored a goal in the last few minutes of the game to take home the bragging rights on a score line of 1-10 to 1-12. Thanks to both sets of supporters who were very cooperative on the day. It was with great pride that the club could host a game of such significance and we would like to thank all who volunteered on the day in every capacity as it was a real community effort.
The club is currently reaching out to local businesses to advertise at Connolly Park in the form of a pitch side sign.

NURSERY PROGRAMME – Owenmore Gaels are hosting a Nursery Programme in the Teeling Centre Collooney. It continues this Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is an introduction to Gaelic Football for kids in the community in a fun filled environment. It will run for six weeks and it’s €2 per child. This is aimed for children aged between 4-6, born in 2013-2014. Parents are invited to participate in activities. Any queries please contact Paddy Watters at 085 8512889.
DINNER DANCE 2019 – A major date for the diary as the club hold a dinner dance in the Clayton Hotel on Saturday, March 2. Stay tuned for further details over the coming weeks.
COACHING WORKSHOP – There is a foundation course taking place at the end of the month in Summerhill College. This is essential for anybody who is or wants to get involved in coaching. It is an extremely informative and worthwhile course, giving great knowledge and ideas for working with kids development. LOTTO – The lotto draw took place in Connollys on Monday, January 21. The numbers drawn were 6, 14, 16 and 27. There was no winner of the €10,000 jackpot. Congratulations to our lucky-dip winners Ann Murphy, Sharon Carty, John Walsh and Joan Mullen (Online Lucky Dip) who each get €30. The next draw for our €10,000 jackpot will take place on Monday, February 4, in Cullen’s Bar. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets throughout the year and continues to support the club.
CONDOLENCES – The club is deeply saddend to have learned of the passing of Robert Lawson of Roselawn, Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly of Carrickbanagher, Co. Sligo. Robert played with the club at all levels and was a member of the victorious under-12 team in 1972 (Please see photo below) He played in two Intermediate Finals in 1979 + 1980 and represented Sligo at senior level playing against Roscommon in the 1982 Connacht Championship. In the mid 80’s Robert moved to Dublin but always followed the club’s progress.
The club wish to extend sympathies to his wife Ada, his sons Theophilus and Paul, his mother Muriel and the extended Lawson family.
