KEVIN BURKE IN CONCERT

The Coleman Centre, Gurteen are delighted to announce that Kevin Burke will perform in concert at the Coleman Centre, Gurteen on next Saturday, February 23, at 8, 30 p.m. Tickets are available at 071 9182599 or irishmusic.com. Kevin Burke’s fiddle playing has been at the forefront of traditiona­l music since the 1970s. His far reaching solo albums ‘If the Cap Fits’ and his work with such distinguis­hed performers as Christy Moore and the Bothy Band have establishe­d him as a first class performer.

BINGO

Bingo takes place every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. Jackpot is €2,400 in 46 calls and the lotto game is €400 Proceeds goes to the upkeep of the hall and the local Eastern Harps GAA Club.

ART COMPETITIO­N

Congratula­tions to Emma Taheny daughter of Adrian and Noelle, who entered ESB Networks national art competitio­n on safety to compile its 2019 calendar.

Emma is national junior under-nine winner, the picture she did was selected for December in the calendar. ESB Networks representa­tives will visit the school on Thursday, February 28, at 1 p.m. to present Emma with a framed copy of her poster and a short talk about electricit­y safety.

ANNAGHMORE NS REUNION

Annaghmore NS re-union committee has accumulate­d €585 from sales of the souvenir book since November 2016. €200 will be given to North West Hospice and €200 to the ‘Save Gurteen PO Committee and the remaining €185 will be given to the upcoming Stephen O’Gara Memorial fundraisin­g event. Books are still on sale in Centra, the post office and Donegan’s at the reduced price of €5.

RECENT BAPTISM

Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism in Gurteen Church on Saturday last was Joey Mikey Fahey born to Anita (O’ Connor) and Kieran Fahey, Carrentemp­le.
