Burke Christian School, Castlebar, is enrolling
The Irish education system is undergoing radical change with the overhaul of the Junior Certificate and increased focus on Relationships and Sexuality Education for all age groups. In 2018, Minister for Children Katherine Zappone launched the world’s first National LGBT Youth Strategy with the aim of promoting LGBT issues in schools and communities. The provision of comprehensive sexuality education in schools is also a mandatory requirement of Children First child protection guidelines, launched by the Minister in 2017.
These changes increase the sexual awareness of children and will inevitably encourage early sexual activity. Academic studies consistently show a direct link between mental health problems in young people and early sexual activity. Research shows that school-age children who are sexually active are more likely to suffer from depression, poor academic achievement, low self-esteem, and substance abuse compared to those who are not.
The Christian order for healthy sexual activity is within the marriage relationship between a man and a woman. At Burke Christian School, we can provide your child with an exemplary standard of education, grounded in a firm Christian ethos. The School has successfully provided quality tuition and learning support to primary and secondary students over the past 20 years.
We are enrolling now for September 2018. For more information, call Martina on 0872933901, email info@bcs.ie or visit our website at www. bcs.ie.
