First win in Philly McGuinness Cup for Sligo U20s
on target with his third point on 21 minutes before points from Fermanagh’s Callum Jones (free) and Glenn Treacy brought it back level on 23 minutes.
Sligo’s Gavin Gorman used his height to sweetly catch and turn to score from play before Murphy found the net again.
A quick move down the field saw Sean Carroll spotting the Curry man who deftly shot past Aidan Keenan quickly responded through Reilly, Murphy assisting, before Reilly added his third on 45 minutes. Sligo looked to be out of sight with a 6 point cushion but Fermanagh were not done by any means yet.
They scored five points on the bounce, two frees from Jones and another from Cassidy sandwiched between points from play from Conor Love and Cassidy leaving them behind by one point, 1-8 to 0-10 on 60 minutes. With 4 minutes of injury time, Fermanagh kept pressing for the equaliser but Sligo stood strong in defence, Evan Lyons among those making crucial interceptions.
Reilly, impressive throughout added a late free as Sligo edged out 2 point winners.
The Yeats men play Leitrim away on Saturday in Round 3.
