JOKER Jackpot St Pat’s Joker Jackpot now stands at €1400 as there was no winners in the latest draw. Next draw take place in Rafter’s Bar on Saturday January 25th at 10pm. The Club thank you for your continued support. The club recently held their AGM and as a result a new committee is now in place. The committee is; Donal Brady as Chairperso­n, Una Clarke as Secretary and Keith Connolly as the new Treasurer. EASTERN HARPS

EASTERN Harps GAA club paid honour to their underage teams at a special medal presentati­on night held in their new club house in Keash on Saturday evening last. The club had a hugely successful year at underage level with five of our teams receiving awards. Presented with medals on the night were U12 Girls C League winners, U14 Girls B League winners, Minor Girls B Championsh­ip winners, U13 Boys Féile winners and the U16 Boys B Championsh­ip winners. Club Chairperso­n Seamus Hannon paid tribute to all of the medal recipients for their commitment and dedication. He also thanked the coaches who played such a big part in their success throughout the year as well as the parents for supporting and encouragin­g their children to take part in sport. Special guests on the night were Enda Smith of the Roscommon senior football team who captained Roscommon to Connacht final glory in 2019 and Bernice Byrne of Sligo senior ladies football team. Both Enda and Bernice spoke of their experience­s with their respective counties and encouraged all of the young people present to continue their involvemen­t with sport. Also honoured on the night was the Eastern Harps players who achieved success at County level. There were awards presented to Roisín Molloy, Orla Connolly, Edel Henry and Lisa Powel for their success in the Connacht Minor C Championsh­ip and awards were also presented to James Kiernan, Dillion Walsh and Matt Henry for their success in the U16 Manning Cup.

Zumba classes continue in the clubhouse on Monday evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. The men’s rowing is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. There are 2 classes each evening. There are still a few places available for both classes. We will run a series of family-friendly fun walks commencing this Sunday, January 19th at 10 am from the clubhouse. Bingo continues, as usual, every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen where the jackpot is €2,100 in 46 calls or less and the in house lotto is €400. WELL done to our senior hurlers with Sligo who defeated Louth in a challenge match on Saturday by 1-18 to 0-12. The players were Eoghan Rua McGowan, Finnian Cawley, Rory McHugh, Joe McHugh, Gavin Connolly, James Weir and Andrew Kilcullen. Mikey Gordon was involved with DCU Sigerson panel in their win over The Garda College and Dónall Hanley was part of Maynooth panel which defeated Trinity College on Sunday in the

ST FARNAN’S

TICKETS are selling very well for our Dinner Dance on Saturday night in the Radisson Hotel. Doors open at 6:30pm with dinner being served at 7 30 sharp. Medal presentati­ons will take place on the night to the ladies teams, junior team, intermedia­te team and St. Farnan’s/ St. Pat’s minor team. Special guest is Ryan McHugh of Donegal. Music and Disco is by Jason Moyles. Raffle on the night with terrific prizes. This promises to be a great night. Tickets cost €35. Anyone interested in coaching or helping with underage teams should contact chairman Padraig Hallinan. All help would be much appreciate­d.

Underage hurling training continues in Easkey Sports Hall this week for all ages. All new players welcome, boys and girls.

ST NATHY’S

THANK you to all who helped in organising the Dinner Dance. A lot of work goes into putting together these occasions and we appreciate all the work. A fantastic night was had by all in the Radisson Blu hotel. It is great to see the whole club come together to celebrate all the amazing achievemen­ts of 2019. With lots to look forward to, we have some teams who are seeking new management. The Senior team is looking for a Manager for the 2020 season. Our U-16 and U-12 teams are also seeking trainers. 2019 was a great year for the teams and we need someone enthusiast­ic and willing to drive them on to bigger and better things.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THE club is pleased to confirm Glen McDermott has been appointed Senior Manager for 2020 with Stephen Sheeran as coach and trainer. We wish Glen and his team the best of luck for the year ahead.

The annual underage awards were presented last weekend with winners medals presented to the U18 Boys B League, U16 Girls C Championsh­ip, U14 Boys B Championsh­ip, U12 Girls A Plate winners and runners up medals to U16 Boys B Championsh­ip, U14 Girls B Championsh­ip and U12 Boys B Championsh­ip. Thanks to Senior and Sligo players David Quinn and Karl McKenna who presented the medals. The player of the year awards went to; U10 Joseph O’Connor, Katie Gilligan; U12 Matthew Potter, Aoibheann Conlon; U14 Adam O’Carroll, Cheyanne Casey; U16 Shane Dwyer, Ruby Clark; U18 Amy Healy, Brendan Hailstones with Lee Deignan picking up the overall Player of the Year award. Thanks to the Kearns family for their continued sponsorshi­p of these awards in memory of Leo and Phil Kearns.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last weekend with the numbers drawn 9, 14, 21 and 24. There was one match 3 winner, Seamus Galvin, Riverstown while Marie Jinks won the house draw. The jackpot now stands at €3,200 with the next draw on Saturday 25th in Tommy Macs.

Well done to the Sligo U20 team on a good win over Fermanagh at the weekend and to Gaels players involved, Daniel Lyons, Evan Lyons, Sean Carroll, Dillon McDermott, James Carroll and Shane Deignan. Well done also to James Carroll and IT Sligo who had a good win over University of Limerick on Sunday and now take on Letterkenn­y IT in the quarter final on Sunday.

OUR annual club dinner dance will take place on Saturday, February 15th in the Diamond Coast Hotel. We’ll have more details in the coming weeks. Our club AGM will be at the end of January/start of February – a date will be confirmed in due course.

COUNTY scene

GAVIN Duffy started at corner forward for the Sligo U-20s in their 1-9 to 0-10 win over Fermanagh in the Philly McGuinness Cup on Saturday last. Sligo play Leitrim in their final group match next weekend. DEFIBRILLA­TOR training

SLIGO HANDBALL NOTES; Drumcliffe hosted their Juvenile Golden Gloves competitio­ns on the 11th and 12th of January, with exciting games of Handball played both days.

The large entry was most welcome and all enjoyed both days. Thanks to all who organised, helped, played and supported to make it a great weekend’s Handball. Sligo’s 4 Wall Championsh­ips started last week with quarter and semifinals played, finals to be played this weekend. She’s Ace Ladies in Handball Festival Weekend will take place on January 24th - 26th, as we head back to Breaffy House Arena, Castlebar and surroundin­g Mayo venues for a huge weekend of 4-Wall & 1-Wall Handball.

What makes the She’s Ace event so special is not that it is female only, it is that the event is a celebratio­n of Handball no matter what your age or ability level is. We are calling on all our Handball Clubs nationwide to help push this event among their members and make this the biggest She’s Ace yet! Please spread the word! ST Johns GAA Lights Up 2020

Come along and join in our community walk in Cuilbeg every Tuesday and Thursday. The walkway is suitable for all ages and abilities and is open to members and non-members alike. Lights will be on from 6.30pm to 8.30pm beginning Tues 14th January.

As part of the Ireland Lights Up initiative and RTE’s Operation Transforma­tion 2020, St Johns will turn on the floodlight­ing for our whole community and allow everyone to enjoy healthy walks along our pathway in a safe and bright environmen­t during the dark winter nights of January and February 2020.

CLOONACOOL

THE 10th annual Cloonacool 5k Road Race takes place this year on Sunday, the 2nd of February at 12pm. The race is a Fast Flat course and plenty of PBS are expected. The race is starting at the Community Pitch, Cloonacool (Postcode:F91EC65).

Runners, Joggers, Walkers are all welcome. Entry on the day from 10:30am at the pitch. Race starts at 12.

Entry fees are €10 for adults, €5 for children and €25 for a family.

Changing and shower facilities available. Refreshmen­ts afterwards.

Well done to all that have completed the first week of OT.

We had our Sunday morning walk if a lovely fresh sunny day in the forest walk in Tubbercurr­y. A good crowd turned up.

Classes continue as usual on Tues day evenings and Saturday mornings. There is a midweek walk in Rathscanla­n forest walk in Tubbercurr­y at 6pm on Wednesday. Next Sunday’s walk is around Mount Taffe in Masshill.

Parking is at mass rock and we’ll walk 2/3k and turn and walk back.
