PERRY’S WIFE ALSO EXPELLED
THE wife and son of former Fine Gael TD, John Perry have both been restored to membership of the party following intervention from An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.
Initially, it had been thought only Jude Perry had been expelled for supporting his father who is running as an independent candidate in the General Election on social media.
The Fine Gael party faced a backlash over its handling of the expulsions. In a message sent to Jude, the Taoiseach said he had “only got across this whole forfeiting of membership issue today (Sunday) and I have instructed party headquarters to “rescind it for you and Marie also. Appreciate that John is your Dad and these aren’t circumstances the party rules were made for. We’ ll review the situation after the General Election.” John Perry said: “I really can’t fathom the lengths that this Political Party have gone to in trying to derail my General Election bid. I will stand up for my family, my locality and for my constituency. I am a fighter, I fought them before in the High Court and I won, and I will defeat them again in this election.”
“There has been no reason whatsoever given as to why my wife has been suspended, just a text from the Taoiseach to say that Marie was also expelled and that he would have both expulsions rescinded. It beggars belief as to why the Fine Gael organisation have taken these actions against my family. I want to know exactly who made these defenceless decisions. There is an obvious vendetta on me and they obviously know that I am going to win a seat, they are running scared. They have went a step too far this time, the people behind these actions need to be named and shamed. How dare they act in this manner.”
