CARTRON United having hit he front in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League discovered just how hard it is to stay ahead when they played a scoreless draw at home in the Ray MacSharry Park against Strand Celtic.

Both sides played an open attacking game and goals were at a premium as neither defence were in the mood to give anything away.

Despite the best attacking efforts the game ended scoreless with a point apiece.

The result favouring Strand Celtic but putting a big dent in the aspiration­s of Cartron’s hope of a Super League title, still more to come.

Manorhamil­ton Rangers continue their fine run of form hitting six goals at Forthill against Glenview Stars.

Leading scorer Robbie Cunningham scored a hat trick that brings his league goal tally to a massive fifteen goals.

Robbie scored his first goal after ten minutes, goal number two on thirty-seven minutes and completed his hat trick on sixty-one minutes.

In between Shane Walsh scored on thirty-nine minutes with Seamus Ryder a minute later leaving Manor Rangers four goals to one up at the break as Gino O’Boyle pulled a goal back for Glenview Stars.

The final score of the game came from Paddy Woulfe twenty-five minutes from time that keeps the challenge of major league honours on course as well as increasing their goal difference.

North Sligo’s Cliffoney Celtic welcomed Ballisodar­e United to Mullaghmor­e.

The visitors were a goal to the good after only two minutes when Darragh Healy struck an amazing free kick from thirty yards to put Ballisodar­e ahead.

Cliffoney continued to attack but to little effect until fourteen minutes from time when a raid down the right-hand side saw a beautiful ball crossed into the danger area and it was Alan Harrison reacting quickest to power a header home that in the end ensured a share of the spoils for Cliffoney Celtic. This was a great game of football with two excellent teams giving a good account of themselves.

MCR were at home in Sean Fallon Park to Merville United in this local derby. MCR hit the front on ten minutes with a cracker of a goal from Stephen Feeney and MCR held this lead until five minutes from fulltime when the young guns of Merville equalised through Finn Young.

This gave Merville the lift and not content with a draw went all out and minutes into injury time Ryan Hargadon stole the show and the points hitting a glorious winner for a jubilant Merville United.

Carbury returned to their winning ways hitting St Johns for seven without reply at Sean Fallon Park.

Carbury were in devastatin­g shooting form, Gareth Kelly scoring a hat trick, his first two goals coming in rapid succession, the first on twelve minutes and his second goal five minutes later.

Gareth completed his hat trick with his third goal, a spectacula­r bicycle kick seven minutes from time. Ryan McManus added two goals to his collection, his first goal two minutes from half time and again rapid fire one minute into the second half adding his second goal.

Aaron Murrin and Niall Brennan were also on the mark for Carbury,

Real Tubber continue to lead the pack in the Sligo Pallets Premier League winning by the odd goal in three in this hard-fought win at the Showground­s in Carrick -on-Shannon. Real Tubber hit the front on thirty minutes thanks to excellent finishing by Brian Morahan and held the lead until twenty minutes from time when Conor McGoldrick equalised for the Town. Real Tubber restored order five minutes later when Eoin

Walsh hit what in the end proved the winner that keeps Real Tubber ahead of the chasing pack.

Yeats United welcomed Riverstown Boys Arrow Harps to Danny McGinley Memorial Park Carney and it was the visitors Arrow Harps who went in front sixteen minutes from half time when Luke Flynn scored. Yeats equalised a minute from the break when Ross McCarthy netted the all-important goal.

The second half saw both sides evenly matched but on seventy minutes Yeats went ahead when Joseph Keyes rifled home a cracker of a goal that in the end secured all three points for the Yeats Boys.
