Jude is seeking enquiry, apology

- By PAUL DEERING

The son of former Fine Gael TD, John Perry says there’s still many questions to be answered despite the rescinding of the decision to have him expelled from the party.

Jude Perry was re-admitted to the party following the intervention of An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.

Jude was expelled after he supported his father’s campaign in the General Election as an independent candidate on Facebook.

His mum, Marie also had her membership ceased by the party and also re-instated.

The student, who has been involved with the Fine Gael party for many years and establish a branch in Queen’s University said he wanted to know who made the decision to expel him and his mother.

“Moreover, why did cabinet ministers try to justify my unfair explusion in the national media and did they know my mother had been expelled without prior notice?” asked Jude.

He also queried how “an inaccurate national briefing to be circulated to all councillors, justifying my unfair expulsion and tanishing my reputation was placed as the number one national issue..”

He has called for an independent enquiry into the matter after the General Election. “It is important to ensure no similar explusion without a hearing occurs in the future and that Fine Gael respects the value of due process and fair hearing,” said Jude.

He is also seeking a public apology from Mr Varadkar and the party for the stress and upset the matter had caused himself and his mother.
