DRUMSHANBO based, Sean Wynne says he believes passionately in what he terms is ‘ the Nation State’ and that “everything we do should be in the interest of the State, and of our own citizens; not in the interest of the EU. Our nationhood will guide us into the future. The EU values may take us to oblivion.”

Wynne says his core values are: the protection of life, traditional family and community values which underpin his passion for social and economic justice for all citizens.

“I value my freedom from political ‘groupthink’ and will use it wisely. I am answerable solely to the voter,” he said.

Married to Breda, they have four grown up sons. He was jointly awarded Rehab “Leitrim Person of the Year” in 2004, for his work in having Leitrim re-united into a single Constituency. He has also been a member of the Public Participation Network for County Leitrim, Community Strand, but has had to stand down because of his candidacy. He is currently National Secretary of the International Federation of Injured Children and Adults.

Seán has been heavily involved in the “Save Leitrim” afforestation campaign. He is currently Secretary of the ‘European League Against Unplanned Forestry.’ He is also a member of the Turf Cutters and Contractors Association.

As a Deputy Principal and educator and having lived all of his life in this constituency, Seán believes he is well placed to understand the needs of the young people of rural Ireland and the concerns of their families.

He is a Member of the National Executive of the Principals and Deputy Principals’ Association and is current schools’ representative on the GAA’s Connacht Council.
