BALLYMOTE HANDBALL

CLUB member Cormac Finn represente­d Colaiste Muire Ballymote in the recent Colleges’ All-Ireland Four Wall Championsi­ps.

In the Connacht Colleges Cormac defeated Ciaran McMorrow (Drumshambo), Peter Doherty (Rice College Westport and in the Connacht Final he defeated Jake Fahy (Galway).

The All Ireland Colleges Finals were played at the Kingscourt Handball Complex recently. Cormac played Sean Coughlan Rice College Ennis in the All-Ireland Semi Final defeating his opponent 15 6 in a tie breaker.

In the All-Ireland Boys Intermedia­te Singles Final Cormac was defeated by Billy Drennan Kilkenny CBS in two straight games.

Cormac teamed up with Eoin Fox to win the Gerard Jones Memorial Cup played at Castleconn­or Club recently.

ST MICHAEL’S

TRAINING has commenced for the Junior team on Tuesday evenings. Contact Hugh McGowan manager.

Registrati­on night for all under age players up to Minor grade will take place in Ballintogh­er Community Centre on Friday 21st February from 7pm to 9pm.

Membership for 2020 is as follows, Male: Underage = €30. Family of 2 = €50. Family of 3 = €60. Seniors = €60 (Students = €40).

Option for Senior Players €120 which includes Yearly Lotto Ticket. Non playing members €30.

Female: Underage (12yrs -18 yrs) €40 (€32 registrati­on & €8 club membership). Senior €60 (€50 registrati­on &€10 membership). Option for Senior Players €120 includes Yearly Lotto Ticket.

A date to book in your diary. St Michael’s Annual Dinner Dance will take place on 28th March in Castledarg­an Hotel, music on the night by The Conquerors. Tickets will €35 each and will be available from the end February.

Dates For Diary St Pat’s Annual Roadside Clean Up has been registered with An Taisce for Good Friday Morning April 10th. More details in due course. Also the 14th of March is the day we have chosen to have a celebratio­n to officially open the new stand, watch this space.

EASTERN HARPS

Bingo continues, as usual, every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen where the jackpot is €2,600 in 47 calls or less and the in house lotto is €900.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THE Club’s annual dinner dance takes place on Friday 21st February in the Clayton Hotel. Tickets are now available from committee members.

Tickets for the annual club draw should be returned as soon as possible to any committee member.

There is still an opportunit­y to support this fundraisin­g event with 20 great prizes including a first prize of a Renault Clio. Tickets are €10 each available from any club member.

All of the proceeds go directly to the club.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last weekend.

The numbers drawn were 11, 13, 17 and 25. The jackpot now stands at €3,400 with the next draw on Saturday 22nd February in Sean Macs, Riverstown.

The club is participat­ing in the GAA healthy club initiative and Marina Swan and Brenda Crowley completed the Healthy Officer training at the GAA’s Healthy Club Conference last Saturday. Keep an eye on FB for upcoming initiative­s as Marina and Brenda get to work.

ST JOHNS GAA ACADEMY

THE St Johns GAA Gaelic Football Academy 2020 programme will begin this Saturday February 15th for Boys U8 from 3 to 4pm and for Boys U 10 from 4 to 5pm

On Sunday 16th for Girls U8 and U10 fro 2 to 3pm and for Girls U12 from 3 to 4pm.

The Venue for all is indoors at The Sligo Sports Complex, Cleveragh and the cost is €1 per person per session.

This is a 4 week football coaching programme which will provide good exercise and fun in a healthy, safe environmen­t . Registrati­on is by email to stjohnsgaa­academy@gmail.com or by text to Liam at 087 7743335 for Boys or Olivia 087 7782233 for Girls.

Pre-registrati­on is advisable as places are limited.

Stenson Park

The main playing pitch in Stenson Park, Cuilbeg has been spiked and sanded and will not be available for use for a few weeks.

ST JOHNS LIGHT UP 2020

The walking groups will continue their exercise each Tuesday and Thursday night.

The pathway around the pitches is lit up from 6.30 to 8.30 pm each evening, so come along and get some fresh air and exercise in a safe, friendly environmen­t.

All the community is welcome to participat­e.

BEST wishes to our county football and hurling players in their respective league games next weekend.

Congratula­tions to Patrick O’Connor who was named on The Hogan Stand Football Team of the Week following a terrific performanc­e against Antrim.

Well done to The Windmill players on two great performanc­es in Ballintogh­er of their play Wanted One Body. The final two performanc­es will take place on February 22 and 23 in Ballina Arts Centre.

EASKEY HURLING

EASKEY GAA presentati­on night took place on Saturday night in The Castle Inn. Dermot Molloy league medals and Martin Brennan Cup medals were presented to our senior team and minor championsh­ip hurling medals were presented to our minor team.

Congratula­tions to all the players involved.

Congratula­tions also to Mikey Gordon who was chosen as Footballer of the Year for Easkey.

Best wishes to the players on the county panel in the second league game against Fermanagh on Sunday next. Good luck to players involved in college Freshers football and hurling this week.

ST MOLAISE GAELS

ON Saturday morning at 10.15am in the Clubhouse our Mini Stars 5 Week Fun Fitness Programme for 4 and 5 year old Boys and Girls continues.

Our Operation Transforma­tion Programme continues with two Circuits Classes on Thursday night at 7.20pm and then 8.00pm, Group Walk, which is attracting great crowds each week, from the Village Car Park in Grange on Saturday morning at 11.00am and Yoga Classes Sunday morning at 10.00am and 11.00am.

Weigh Ins continue each Monday evening between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Well done to our Healthy Club Committee on the excellent Programme they have put in place and which has seen 140 people sign up for Operation Transforma­tion.

Our next Club Lotto draw will take place on Monday February 24th at 8.30pm in the Clubhouse.

Thanks to all for their continued support for this important Club fundraiser.

If anyone has old clothes they no longer need the Club would be delighted to receive same as part of our annual “Cash for Clobber” fundraiser. Bags can be left in or at the Club Buildings at any time and will be taken in and stored.
